In April 2000 the idea for a Lake Quinault Historical Society and Museum came to be. In May 2002, the “Old Quinault Post Office” building became available for ownership to the historical society through the Aramark /Lake Quinault Lodge who owned it and were using it for storage. After considerable work renovating the building and repairing the extreme damage from the 2007 storm, the museum reopened in June of 2009. Numerous volunteer hours have continued to be spent upgrading and expanding the museum. This museum is well worth visiting for folks interested in the history of the Quinault area and the families that homesteaded it. Plan on spending much more time than you expected as you delve into the history and the lovingly arranged displays.
